What are Premium LATCH Connectors?
Premium LATCH connectors refer to the push-button lower connectors found on Britax child seats that allow you to install the seat into the vehicle using the LATCH system. The connectors are part of the child seat LATCH system that attaches to the lower LATCH anchor in your vehicle. An audible click can be heard when the connector is securely attached into place. Visit our About LATCH page to learn more about the entire LATCH system.
Where are Premium LATCH Connectors located on the car seat?
The premium LATCH connectors are attached to the lower part of the child seat via a strap (also called webbing).
Why does the seat need Premium LATCH Connectors?
It is important to understand that the job of a car seat is to limit injury to your child. One of the ways in which the seat limits injury to your child is by minimizing movement of the seat from side to side and front to back. A tight installation limits movement of the child seat and therefore limits movement of your child during a crash. There are a couple of different ways to install your child seat into your vehicle. Using the LATCH system is one of those ways, but keep in mind that it may not be the best method for your particular vehicle. To learn more about the LATCH system, be sure to visit our About LATCH page.
If you have chosen to install your seat using the LATCH system, the Britax premium LATCH connectors have been designed to make it easier to attach them to and remove them from the lower LATCH anchors in your vehicle. Components that are easier to use each and every time have a much better chance of being used correctly each and every time resulting in a safer environment for your child.

When it is necessary to remove the child seat from the vehicle, you simply push the red button and the connector is released effortlessly.
How long has Britax incorporated Premium LATCH Connectors in their seats?
All passenger vehicles manufactured after September 1, 2002, are required to have LATCH anchors for attaching the child seat directly to the vehicle. Select Britax child seats featured LATCH connectors as early as 2001.
