Q. Can I use a U.S. Britax car seat in Canada?

A. Britax child seats for the U.S. market do not meet the requirements of Transport Canada. While the design is the same, the U.S. product is not properly marked for distribution in Canada. As well, weight and height limitations differ between the U.S. and Canadian markets. In accordance with Transport Canada regulations, the product must be marked with the appropriate National Safety Mark. The U.S. products will not carry this mark.

For U.S. visitors traveling from the United States to Canada, use of the U.S. product is permissible while visiting Canada. However, use of the U.S. product by Canadian caregivers can result in penalties and fines, as determined by provincial law.

Q. Can I use things like seat protectors or mirrors with my Britax seat?

A. No; do not use non-regulated products with or on Britax products. The following is a statement included in each Britax user guide: "The use of non-Britax Child Safety, Inc. covers, inserts, toys, accessories, or tightening devices is not approved by Britax. Their use could cause this child seat to fail federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards or not perform as intended in a crash."

Q. Does Britax sell products direct?

A. Currently Britax does not sell products directly to consumers. We do sell through many juvenile product retailers and selected baby superstores; visit one of our authorized retailers in your area or online for a selection of Britax products.

Q. I registered my car seat; does this activate my warranty?

A. Manufacturers use this information to contact owners about safety issues, including recalls, and are not allowed to use owner data for other purposes. Registration is not activation of warranty coverage.
