About Us

Our Company

Britax has been a pioneer in child passenger safety for more than three decades, with a legacy of leadership in developing innovations that enhance the safety of child seats and improve their ease of installation and use. Our uncompromising focus has made Britax the best-selling child seat in Europe and one of the brands most trusted by American parents and caregivers since entering the U.S. market in 1996. Our commitment to improving child safety is unparalleled, as evidenced by the fact that our products undergo the most rigorous testing in our industry at five Britax testing facilities worldwide. We also work closely with vehicle manufacturers to encourage design improvements that enhance the performance of child seats. In addition, we maintain an ongoing dialogue with consumers, child passenger safety technicians and other child safety advocates to ensure proper installation and use of child seats and develop new ideas to improve safety and ease of use.

Our Products

Britax designs and manufactures a complete line of child seats, including:

  • Rear-facing infant child seats for use with children who are at least one year of age and weigh up to 22 pounds and range in height up to 30 inches.
  • Convertible (front- and rear-facing) child seats for use with children who weigh up to 35 pounds in the rear-facing mode and up to 65 pounds in front-facing mode.
  • Forward-facing child seats for use with children who weigh up to 80 pounds.
  • Booster seats for use with children who range in height from 38 to 60 inches and weighing up to 100 pounds.

While the safety and quality of our child seats are of paramount importance to parents and caregivers, we also recognize that these individuals value and appreciate the flair for style reflected in the design of all Britax products, as well as the convenience of the high-quality, easy-to-clean Microfibres® fabrics used in our seat covers.

Our "Firsts"

True Side Impact ProtectionTM: Britax has developed an ergonomic and anthropometric designed patented head support that distributes crash forces, minimizes lateral head movement, contains the head and body, and shields the child from intrusion in the event of a side impact. Rigorous U.S. and European testing and anthropometric design allow Britax to claim True Side Impact ProtectionTM.

Versa-Tether®: Patented tether system utilizes two attachment points on the child seat and anchors to the vehicle, reducing movement of the seat in the event of impact. Additionally, the system allows for rear-facing positioning in convertible child seats.

HUGSTM: Harness Ultra Guard System reduces child's forward head movement in the event of impact. Soft pads cushion neck and chest.

Quick Adjust Head & Harness Positioning: Allows user to adjust head positioning and child seat harness height for enhanced fit with just one hand and without removing seat from vehicle. Additionally, in booster seats, it provides better positioning of the vehicle safety belt.

Polyester Webbing: Britax is the first manufacturer to bring polyester harness webbing to the global market. Polyester is superior to nylon harness material because it is softer and more resistant to twisting or tangling.

EPS & Comfort Foam: Energy-absorbing Expanded Polystyrene (EPS) and Open-Cell Comfort Foam are used to line all Britax seats for significant added protection.

Contoured Base: Carefully designed to fit in most vehicles, including bucket seats.

Higher Weight Limits: Britax was the first manufacturer with a convertible seat for children who weigh up to 65 pounds and, until recently, the only manufacturer to make a harnessed seat for children who weigh up to 80 pounds.

Distribution

Britax is sold through independent and mass retailers, which are committed to fully informing and training customers in the proper installation and use of child seats.
